How media stereotypes cost Africa

A new report by Africa No Filter and Africa Practice titled ‘How Stereotypes Hurt Africa’ reveals that negative media stereotypes cost Africa up to US$ 4.2 billion in investment.

The report compared reporting on Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa to reporting on Denmark, Malaysia, and Thailand.

While this is a matter of concern, African countries must equally focus on improving their institutions, the rule of law, and promote free markets such as by making the Africa Continental Free Trade Area work.
