Supreme Court decision alert:
The Supreme Court in a ruling delivered on Tuesday, 20th August 2024 in SC. Petition (Application) No. E031 of 2024 as Consolidated with Petition No. EO32 & E033 of 2024 The Cabinet Secretary For the National Treasury & Planning & 4 Others V. Okiya breathed life back into the Finance Act, 2023 by staying the Court of Appeal’s Orders declaring the Act unconstitutional. The Supreme Court will hear the consolidated appeals on 10th and 11th September 2024 and deliver a final judgement on the constitutionality of the Act. The Court of Appeal had declared the Finance Act 2003 unconstitutional.
